Ofsted Lordship Farm
Children enjoy their time in the fun, engaging and nurturing environment. Younger children excitedly follow staff who collect them from their classroom. Staff engage children along the way playing games, such as follow-my-leader and chatting about their day. Children are warmly welcomed and are independent, organising their personal belongings, for instance. They choose from a wide range of activities that have been planned with their interests in mind. For example, children explore the texture of sand and play with the toy zoo animals.There are opportunities for children to relax quietly with a book or to play collaboratively with their friends. Children play together on large inflatables and engage in physical games organised by staff.
The club is well organised and staff have excellent communication with parents and carers. Parents are keen to share their support for the club and are extremely happy about how their children’s individual needs are met. They feel that their children are safe and enjoy their time at the club. Leaders work very closely with school staff to implement strategies to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities or other barriers to wellbeing. The collaborative approach helps to ensure continuity of care. Leaders have robust measures in place to monitor attendance alongside school staff.
Ofsted Wavendon Gate
Children enjoy their time at this welcoming, well-run club. Throughout the session, there is the sound of cheerful chatter and laughter. Children greet visitors with curiosity and talk about their experiences at the club and home. Children behave well. They are kind and courteous to each other and cooperate well together during group activities. Children are confident and self-assured. New children, and those who are less confident, are supported extremely well. Staff are mindful about quickly putting children at ease and listening to any concerns a child, or parent, may have. The morning drop off routine is organised well so that children quickly engage in activities and settle into their group easily. Children who arrive at the later session are quickly integrated into the club. Staff engage well to settle these children, knowing their interests and favourite activities. Children tell the inspector how they all enjoy the club and many tell her what activities they particularly enjoy. Children enjoy being physically active and shriek with delight as they bounce on the trampoline, which is a regular activity at holiday club. Staff involve children in discussions about the possible hazards and how they can keep safe. They readily discuss the club ‘rules’ and show that they understand what steps they need to take to make sure everyone is safe.

The dedicated provider, management team and staff are clear about their roles and responsibilities. They are committed to providing a safe and happy environment, where children can have fun. Through regular discussions, they evaluate the club to consider how they can improve children’s experiences
Staff interact effectively with children as they play and are attentive to their needs. They join in their play and show a genuine interest in what children are doing. Staff encourage children to think for themselves and persist with their chosen activities. They enthusiastically praise children for their achievements. This helps to promote children’s self-esteem and confidence
Mealtimes are sociable occasions. Children of all ages sit together and chat with each other and staff. They show good table manners and thoroughly enjoy the food staff provide. Staff encourage younger children to use cutlery to cut up their own food. They wait for children to have a go themselves before offering to help. This helps to promote their independence.
Ofsted Lawnside Academy
Children love attending this calm and welcoming setting. Staff create a relaxed, yet fun environment, where children show strong bonds with staff. For instance, children are keen to tell them about their day at school and experiences at home because they know that staff express a genuine interest. Staff know the children they care for very well. They value each child as a unique individual and tailor their interactions and personalised activities to precisely meet their individual needs. Staff build on children’s communication and critical thinking skills. They encourage children to take turns to ask questions to figure out which animal they are thinking of. Staff praise children for their thoughtful questions. This helps children to flourish in confidence and children jump up and down with excitement after guessing correctly.
Parents are complimentary about the provision the setting provides. They comment how their children thoroughly enjoy attending and talk fondly of staff and exciting activities. Parents appreciate the opportunity for their children to make new friendships with older children. Leaders keep parents informed of their children’s experience at the setting through verbal feedback and a termly newsletter.
Ofsted Martins Wood
The staff team provides an environment that is attractive and inviting. Children make independent choices of what they would like to play with from a rich range of resources. They demonstrate high levels of engagement in activities because these reflect their individual interests and needs. For example, children dedicate a significant amount of time to meticulously colouring intricate Christmas patterns on strips of paper, which they then cut out and assemble into a paper chain. Staff offer an abundance of praise for children’s efforts. This increases children’s self-esteem, and they show high levels of pride as they eagerly share their creations with parents and staff. n Children of all ages form exceptionally close bonds with one another. They are kind and friendly towards each other and adults. All children have a good understanding of taking turns and cooperate well in activities. For example, older children introduce younger children to new games, such as hangman, and ensure that they have a turn at suggesting a letter that may make up the word. This also helps them to practise their knowledge of phonic sounds.
